Voip Conferencing

Ever since the internet boom, innovations in technology have facilitated the process of communication between people around the world to a great extent. Real time conferencing is possible today through the use of the internet and many conferencing services exist today; one of them is VOIP conferencing. VOIP means voice over internet protocol, VOIP conferencing means more than two people from different geographical points conversing with each other using this facility. VOIP conferencing can also be called internet telephonic conferencing.

Just like other modes of web based conferencing, VOIP conferencing also needs hardware like computers, sound cards and microphones. Unlike conventional modes of telephonic conferences where the users use the fixed telephone systems that use cables and analog signals, VOIP conferencing is done digitally by the use of computers, audio hardware and VOIP software. Initially, when VOIP conferencing came into the limelight, the users could have only a one way conversation where only one person could talk at a given time and others had to wait for him or her to finish before they could converse. But now with advancement in technology, multi users in VOIP conferencing can talk at the same time.

There are many users in Europe who prefer this mode of conferencing because of its cost effective features. However, there are a lot of disadvantages to this too. Setting up a VOIP conferencing facility might be expensive initially due to the investment needed for the appropriate hardware, software and connectivity. Since VOIP conferencing is done primarily with the use of computers that rely on electrical power supply, constant interruptions in power can affect the functionality of VOIP conferencing.
